It seems to speak all languages of the Americas, Europe, and then some. All in all, great product. If only the Kodak's menu could be easier then the competition's, too. Finally, the languages and world-wide power adapter (without plug converters) seals this as the best overall product. The additional features in Sony's products don't make up for the difference.
The black and white adds to picture's brightness. Thus your can create your own finish. The technology is very good. This picture frame, although not perfect, is the best one among such names as Sony, Philips, and others I researched. Its esthetics is superb.
The pictures look much, much better then in Sony's products. If not for the (on par with competition) menus this product would get 5 stars. The finish is suitable for a wall and desktop applications.
For people not fond of this looks, this unit comes with other inserts that go under the black, completely removable frame.
I can now configure new memory cards with additional slideshows and music in the future, and just send that to my son so he can plug it in and see the new pictures. I purchased this product as a Christmas gift for my son in the Navy, and I received it on a timely basis, in perfect condition. I loaded 1gb worth of pictures and music onto a memory card and popped it into the frame so that as soon as it was turned on, it would begin playing the slideshow of pictures, in date order, against a background of music of my choosing, perfect.
I found the TOUCH interface clunky. Kodaks website - the software updates do not have release dates which makes if much more difficult to know if you are going to benefit from a particular download, especially for the non tech type persons out there. I dread having to explain how this functions to my Mother after she receives it on the holiday. With the impression that it can be easily passed around from person to person in a room. So using amazons ratings as a good starting point for purchasing this frame i picked it up.
Buyer beware. Also the Kodak chat feature for tech support was not open to answer my questions even though the site advertises 24/7 7 day a week chat support. Its an amazing technology that needs a few tweaks yet. For those of you who like TOUCH interfaces, this is no IPHONE or IPOD.
The SHUFFLE feature does not work - this randomization of photos is most likely the #1 feature you could want on a device like this. I soon realized once open that the internal 128MB was worthless. I've waited a few years for the prices to come down on these digital frames. With the 6' cord tethering you to the frame this will be much more difficult then imagined while purchasing. Another huge Kodak marketing misrepresentation. On the cover and the back they show two different people holding the frame as if it is cordless.
It seems the software is still at 1.0 though, with the SHUFFLE feature the one thing that disappoints me the most. The 1/4" non-extended kodak manual became worthless pretty fast though in typical Kodak fashion it was in seven languages.
The color, brightness and contrast are very nice and the mat looks real enough and is apparently swappable. I'm having to give it 2 stars counter 3.5 it's currently averaging, though it could be 4 quickly with better software and more accurate marketing by Kodak.
Every time the frame is started you have to start in order and you do get tired of having to see the same photos each time the frame is started. I purchased (2) 4GB USB sticks to make compatibility as easy as possible for this was a gift for my 65 year old mother.
No option for the frame to even run on a battery source. It's going to take some time to see how my retirement age parents are able to enjoy it.
The interface is particularly unuser friendly wanting to default to the limited 128MB internal memory each time its started instead of defaulting to the USB card i have left inserted. When wondering how to change the duration for each photo that was displayed for more then 5 seconds (default) the printed manual referred me to the "extended manual" located on kodaks website.
++++ Super easy to use and the picture quality far exceeds the other 10" I own and those I compared it to.
Beautiful clear pictures, smart-looking frame. We just loaded pictures onto a flash drive and plugged that into the frame. We're definitely pleased. I can't say much that others haven't said, so I'll just say we're really happy with our Kodak EasyShare 10-inch Digital Frame. It was simple to set up.
